Usually, art that is detailed and has a strange inner glow appeals to me. So, for instance, Girl with a Pearl Earring, or Edgar Degas really inspire me. It's very haunting...
Anyway, I found this artist Amy Sol recently, and even though it's definitely very different from what I generally admire, I must say I LOVE IT!
It's very fairy tale like. And, anyone who knows me well knows that I love fairy tales, and the mood it gives off. It doesn't matter if they're Persian, Chinese, Swedish... I love all fairy tales... and it's hard to find one that I haven't read already.
But check it out!
"Garden of the Dormant Giants"
"Dream of a Distant Cousin"
"Embers of Old Spring"
"Come Out of the Sea"
"To You From My View"
"Hello Sea Pony"
"mountain fog spirit"
"town mouse, country mouse"
I can't get enough of this stuff! This may be my inspiration to get back into art again. My boyfriend every once in a while heckles me about it... since I have completely left that aspect of my life... However, this art is great to copy! Yes, yes, I just don't have the creativity at all... but I love copying art so I can have a very cheap (also not as good) version.
See... I am very cheap... Just the other night I had a DREAM about being cheap. I was with an old good friend and I was saying over and over, "Andy, NO, NO, it's too expensive." My boyfriend told me this when I woke up. He was awake because he is a hard worker and I have to sleep when it gets dark on weekdays.
Actually, being cheap is one of the reasons why I quit. Do you know how expensive canvases cost? geez!
It looks like Amy Sol uses wood as template... very smart and it works well too!
